I come from a family of tradesmen, going back four generations. I am the 3rd generation to have painting as a vocation. I studied both Plastics Engineering and English, as a double major while painting during my Summer vacations. I went on to work in a test laboratory after graduation. There I was responsible for testing, among other things, painted coatings. Eventually I ended up as an aerospace quality control manager and a project engineer. I left aerospace to get a Master's in Education and while I was in school, bought a 1895 house to restore. I enjoyed the process so much that I never ended up going into education full time.
My parents, sister and I started a paint company in 2006 and since then have painted over 1,500 homes and businesses in the South Puget Sound. My parents retired in 2013.
O'Shea's was started in 2013 after my parents retirement. The family painting business was larger with around 50 employees. I wanted something smaller and more personal, as I am a firm believer in local businesses and serving the community I grew up in. I like to be able to drive around the neighborhoods and be proud of the work that we have done. As a result, I only run a few crews so I can ensure top quality painters and paint jobs. This allows me enough time to visit jobs regularly and still estimate new work.
My goal is not to become filthy rich upon the hard work of my painters, nor take every hard earned penny of my customers. It is important to me that they get paid a livable wage.
I will rarely be the low price bidder, as there is always someone that pays their painters peanuts, is unlicensed, uses illegal labor, cheats on number of coats or uses inferior products. I am never the high bid and am almost always the best value for your money. For every house and budget, there is a prescription. I will work with my customers to find the best solution for where quality meets affordability.
